It is very difficult when everyone views men as 'dead-beat-dads". Recently I was given custody of my 2 children (10 and 3 years old) until things between my wife and myself got resolved.
Thank you for inviting me to the BYouTiful occasion on Saturday, Apr 18, 2015. It was quite an experience, a tremendous opportunity at meeting people, shopping for free and I was also the 1st to win a Gift basket. When I came out of there, my daughter who came to pick me up did not immediately recognize me. That's how much fun we had.
Thank you and God bless.
As a child I felt rejected and all alone. Boys and then men were a big part of my social lifestyle. I had children but could never be a mother to them and CAS was there to take them away; never understanding the pain inside. Slowly I got hooked on alcohol and very soon found myself in the company of others that did a combination of alcohol and drugs.
As a mother of one son, it was hard when I lost my husband. I gave up all hope. Instead, despair and anxiety overwhelmed me very quickly. Things got very bad at times. I just couldn't focus on studying. I resorted to thoughts of suicide.
I?m Oli and I was born in Toronto and my family is from Vietnam. In my high school years, I liked studying about Food, Restaurants, Baking. In 2007 I went to George Brown College to study part-time Hospitality and then I went to YMCA to learn the culinary and baking hands on program.
"Your Second Chance program is a service everyone should know about. It has helped me during the most vulnerable time of my life, being in Canada as a new immigrant. If only I knew about your services earlier, it would have saved me a ton of money as I ended up paying lawyers and getting myself into a financial nightmare".
Thanks for your very kind note, well wishes and warm gesture.
As you may have seen from Linkedin, I joined the food industry. The bank position was great, but the opportunity for more entrepreneurship and growth came with this new role.
Update Sept 2014: Supporting a client with employment
Thanks for your concern. For us, everything seems like it's stalled. Sometimes I really get confused not knowing what to do next. Anyway, it's good to know that Community Outreach support is available. Especially your staff who can talk to my wife from time to time. It's a great relief for me.
I am writing to express my thanks for all that Community Outreach has done for me through the Second Chance program. The unforeseen experience of the unexpected that hit me made me feel that the ground below my feet opened up and took me into a world of darkness.
